rain is lovely

Visiting my old high school today made me realize how much I miss college life right now, not to mention hanging with my friends. With the risk of college students everywhere frowning upon me, I say, “I am ready to go back to school”.  During the visit with my dad, who now works there, and some of my old high school teachers, I ended up taking some pictures just to suffice my need for the camera to be in hand. Here’s how some of them turned out:

junior-year-335.jpg An old-school vending machine in the teacher’s lounge. It was red (it soo needs to come to school w. me and be put in the house! lol) but it looked better in b&w then in color. (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/10s; f/3.5; ISO: 400)

junior-year-368.jpg Some dry erase markers that dad had on a desk. They look kind of like brownies-foamy brownies that is. (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/15s; f/3.5; ISO:400)

junior-year-373.jpg Spin to the right, all around once to the left, then left again landing on number, ending with a final turn to the right-yup, you guessed it-lockertime! (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/13s; f/3.5; ISO: 400)

I’m currently debating getting a minor in photography. If I do this though, that means I will be here two more years and will graduate on time instead of a year early like I had wanted. On the other hand, if I don’t minor in it now, then there is no other time when I can come back and get a minor in it once I have already graduated and moved on to grad school. So here’s to thinking. I started looking for classes that might be offered at here or one of the local schools for summer session, but its so confusing; I think I will just have to wait a couple weeks until I’m able to talk to my counselors.

I took some more nature pics today admist the rainy rainy skies.

junior-year-395.jpg Awesome tree backdropped against a rainy, cloudy sky; but i took it in b&w to add more definition to it. (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/250s; f/3.5; ISO:100)

junior-year-413.jpg Jasmine bud unopened. (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/125s; f/35; ISO: 100)

junior-year-427.jpg Jasmine vine on fence. (SONY DSC-T70; Focal Length: 6.3mm; 1/40s; f/3.5; ISO:100)

Tomorrow is my aunt’s birthday and to celebrate it we are going to an authentic german cuisiene restaurant. I’ve never had actual german food before (that I can think of) so I’m pretty excited. It’ll be cool to eat what my heritage is made up of.

Other than that, nothing else going on. Its rained so much here I’m betting that we won’t be in a drought any longer but instead in a flood. My backyard is gone-its crazy. I walked around in my dad’s waterboots, splashing like a little kid. It was awesome!

Tell me what you think of the pics-I’d be happy to read comments, criticism, and/or helpful hints. I’m going to end this with a poem I wrote in high school that always comes into my head on rainy days…

Rain, rain, come on down
Come on down and hit the ground
Hit the ground instead of me
‘Cuz wet is not what I want to be.
