have you had ur sun today?

My friend told me tonight that she is using one of my photos that I took at her wedding for the newspaper announcements. One of my photos!! I’m thrilled beyond belief!!! I have no idea why she’s not using the real, actual photographers pics. The only reason I can guess is that maybe she hasn’t gotten what he took as of yet. But still, I am totally amazed. I can’t wait to get my hands on that paper in a few weeks when my parents bring me a copy from home. Wow. My first ever picture being printed. Its like a dream come true. I mean, I’ve had plenty of poems published before. One was published in a north-western poetry contest when I was younger; I didn’t win, but I was a runner-up; another was published in a year book at my old school; others in other contest books. But a photo. One of my photos. Its too real to believe. Sadly, they aren’t even looking directly at me since I wasn’t their actual photographer, but they are pretty close to looking dead on; just a tad off.

I’m about to start my 7 day a week death run from now until the end of the summer. The idea alone is affecting my brain. I’m seeing spots. No, actually, I’ve been seeing spots and getting lightheaded all day. Maybe I was just out in the sun too long after not seeing it for a long time. Probably just didn’t have enough water in me. I’ll have to work on that. Plus, I was outside in the glorious weather taking pictures at the museum’s trails.  That was fun. The pictures didn’t come out that great since I’m trying to figure out what all this stuff means: ISO, aperature, shutter speed, etc; and how they all work. Basically I’m trying to figure out how to manipulate the camera to see it how I want to see it. I’m getting there. I’m so in love with my Canon Rebel XSi. I still can’t believe my parents got me that for a surprise. Totally the best gift ever. And my aunt & uncle got me this year subscription to a photography magazine, so that’ll be awesome to read and learn from.

Oy. Indiana Jones was really good. Just like the old ones and I love Shia, so that made it even better. I also saw Horton Hears A Who! which was hysterical. Laughed at every moment of that movie basically. What can I say? I’m a kid at heart and always will be. I saw National Treasure 2 tonite. Let’s just say I wasn’t impressed. The 1st one totally rocks; end of story.

Nite yo!

yeaaaaaaaaa

I finally figured out my itunes, or rather, how to have all my music on itunes transfer to my ipod. That took an unbelievable amount of time to figure out. Lets just say I’m fairly computer illiterate.

I went to the gym today. I was so excited too, which is strange because I hate working out. As I told Quauhtli over aim, I had been sitting for too long and had way too much energy, causing me to leave work early, and the gym was the perfect excuse to get some of this energy out. I biked for 11 miles in about 50 minutes. Not my best time ever, but its not too shabby. With weighted legs and a lightheaded head (due to not eating anything but a small bowl of strawberries for breakfast and this was late evening) I climbed off the stationary bike and headed home for a much-needed shower. But is okay, because I know that I will definitely keep going because I just spent $20 on a pass, and there is no way I’m about to waste that kind of money…especially when Im basically broke…until my first paycheck that is. :)

I still have yet to pack anything. I am such a lazy person when it comes to packing. No motivation whatsoever.

We got a new guy at work today. He smells. And not the good kind of man-smell either. Oh no. Like, he needs to shower/put on some deodorant kind of smelly. Poor kid.

Smelly man
oh smelly man
go take a shower.
And if you wont
then i will have to
hold my nose for hours.
Which truth be told
is pretty rude;
something I’d rather not be.
So smelly man
oh smelly man
go take care of your funk, please!

:D oh man…i used to write stuff like that daily in high school. Even to the point that I’d get the tunes stuck in entire classmate’s heads, and some of them remember those poems to this day. :D haha

take it chill yo,

Anything but packing, please!

Hey, you.
Did you turn up the heat?
Its getting hotter and I’m growing weak.
Maybe its because you’re standing close to me.
I’m coming down with something vigorously.

I love Family Force 5. They posted a new song up yesterday on their website: www.myspace.com/familyforce5 and I’m in love with it. I think I’ve listened to it nearly 50 times since its been up. I just keep hitting refresh on the page. :)

Ah, lets see…what have I been up to…hmm…I only had to work 5 hours on Friday, which was great because I don’t think I could have handled another 3. As I told Jim (my co-worker) I felt like I was in school on a Friday and I had the jitterbugs to get out of there as soon as I possibly could. It didn’t help matters that I was meeting up with friends to go see Prince Caspian that night either-it just made me more antsy. hehe. Work went well overall. I thought it was going to be really quiet once again, because both days before none of us had really talked. But I changed that. :D I started asking Jim about movies, and then we talked about this past finale of The Office, and other tv shows. The other guy, I’m going to call him C.E., joined in our conversation, and the three of us chatted for quiet a long time amidst the scanning and entering of checks. It was fun. I’m glad I’m starting to get to know them better, because it would suck pretty bad to go there for 8 hours everyday and not make friends with any of them.

I got to see Narnia: Prince Caspian last night, and it was really good. I don’t think its as good as the original, but its pretty close. Caroline came as did my friend Chris, who I haven’t hung out with in ages, so that was fun. About 15 friends joined us later. Thankfully, the 3 of us where able to save the whole front row, with us in the middle with the bar to prop our legs up-awesomeness right there! I have this thing about movie theaters now, and I blame it on Becca and her family and the many Sunday afternoons when we’d go watch new films. This requirement is that I sit on the front row, preferably as close to the middle as possible because its just not comfortable to watch a movie on screen if you can’t prop your feet up!! haha

Today I went to a yard sale and the flea market with Caroline. That was fun. We ended up getting some pretty random stuff. I was able to get my hands on some old-school kid books that I used to read. :) Kid’s books today suck in my opinion, whereas the stuff I grew up on is amazing. My goal is to get my hands on some old books that I used to read when I was little so that one day my future kids can read something good, not only the toddler books, but the middle school books too. Anything from Babar (love that elephant) to Baby Sitters Club to Encyclopedia Brown. *sigh* I love books. I think I have near 700 books total now. And I only want more! :D

I’m supposed to be packing. I’ve gotten 4 boxes done…in the past month and half. Yup…I’m a slacker. As much as I can’t wait to move to my new apartment and live with the roomie, I just can’t seem to get the drive to actually pack. And believe me, I have a lot that needs to be packed up. So instead of packing I’ve surfed the internet, watched a movie on tv, went to the Harris Teeter and bought 4lbs of strawberries, some kiwis and bananas and a frozen pizza; cooked the pizza; cut up the strawberries, cleaned the kitchen and fridge up, did a load of laundry with load #2 starting now, and I’m halfway through the first POTC. But I have yet to start packing again. See why I need some motivation??

Ok…maybe I will attempt to pack now. What I really want to do is find someone with the season copies of Scrubs so I can watch them, but I don’t know anyone off the top of my head who does. Oh well. Man, I really need to hit up the gym. I think on Monday I’ll go there after work and pay the $20 summer session fee and go work out. I’m gonna get fat if I don’t and I REFUSE to go back to those freaking sizes again!!!!!!!! I’ve lost around 30-40lbs…I am soo not letting that come back. So yes…gym, monday, got it! haha

Go play some Zelda, I already did! :)

checkscheckschecks!!!

Do you know how utterly amazing it is to brush your hair? I haven’t brushed mine for over 2 months I think. Now before you get weirded out, realize that I have a head full of curls, and bushing means no curls, so as you can bet, I never brush. The most I can ever do is finger-pick my hair right after a shower just to try and get some knots out before the hair starts curling out, but even making use of a hairbrush then means no curls…only nasty waves that look gross, leaving me only with a hair straightener to fix the problem. But as I was saying, it feels heavenly to brush my hair. Its like hundreds of little hands massaging my scalp. :)

Anyways…day two of work….lets see…I came in at 9am, sat down, and once again scanned hundreds of checks and entered in data for 8 hours straight.  I have my figures with me…I really want to see how many checks I’ve touched the past 2 days. Its got to be insane. I know I did around 50 packets today, and the packets can range anywhere from 1 check to hundreds of checks. These packets come from all of the branches in the state, and since I work at the headquarters, well, you get the picture.

The guy I work with who goes to the rival school, I’m going to call him Jim. Why Jim? Because he looks kinda like Jim from The Office. He even has that sort of personality too. How crazy is that? And he’s cute like Jim is. haha I kind of had the realization yesterday, but today I just realized it even more. Everyone I’ve told keeps asking if that makes me Pam, to which I say no. lol I think he has a girlfriend and besides, I def. don’t want to date anyone at work…that would just be weird.

So yea, the other guy, the one who goes to my school, I ended up working at the comp next to his and he helped me out a lot this morning. My checks & computer just hated me today. I had to restart my comp once I had just signed on, and then so many of the packets this morning did not want to balance for me and I had no idea why! He was even baffled by some of it, but he helped me figure it out, as did Jim, who offered some advice.

….so i just calculated it all out. Yesterday I touched & edited 6,837 checks; today I did 7,837…a total of 14,674. Thats CRAZY!!!! :-O No wonder I get so sleepy by the afternoon…i still love the fact that ipods are allowed :)

ok…well…i should go to bed…im working in the morning, and then going to see Narnia: Prince Caspian tomorrow evening. :D Im excited!!!

nite yo,

im a working gal

Oy.

I started one of my new jobs today. It wasn’t too bad; pretty easy in fact. All I do is scan checks into a computer, enter missing or messed-up data, and then check stuff off; think Proof Operator. I worked 8 straight hours with no break, although, I did find my way to the bathroom three times today just to stretch my legs. haha Thankfully, the bathrooms are not right next to where I’m at, so its a nice little walk. I didn’t quite figure out how they do their breaks, and I asked, but its still confusing. As far as I can gather, we get paid for breaks, including our lunch break. Basically its get your food and bring it back and eat it while you work. Which, when thinking about it isn’t so bad. I mean, I was there 8 working hours instead of 9 with a 1hr break. And, even though it was dull and mind-numbing (I mean how can press the number keypad over and over not be?) I ended up making around $20-$30 more dollars doing that for 8 hours straight then at my old job. Not too shabby in my opinion. Not too shabby at all. And a plus-side to it all: I can use my ipod while working. :) So it wasn’t too terribly bad once I finally put on the earphones.

The people there were really nice. I have two “managers” as I’m going to call them…I don’t really believe they are titled that, but thats just what they are to me. Both are really nice. Its a really laid-back kind of job, and from what I can gather, its a come in when you want, work as long as you want, and then leave; as long as we peak-timers don’t go over 40hrs/wk and 900hrs/summer. So I’m liking that. I need money…I figure I can work near 40hrs, plus with the wkend job, I should be doing fine. Anyways, back to the people. I met 3 other college students today. 2 guys and a girl; two go to school with me, the other to our rival college down the road. The girl was really nice. Any questions I had she helped me out with, and even gave me hints that the “managers” don’t tend to tell you and that she had figured out the hard way already. The three of them have a 2-day head start on me since I couldn’t come in till today, but thats ok. She’s in the CHASS program here at school, and one of the guy’s is in our engineering program. The other one, the cute one-he’s a business major too, but goes to the rival school. But it was fun hearing the two guys banter about who was better-both didn’t really hard-core care like most people around here.

I didn’t realize until I had reached my last hour and half how tired I was getting. I’m just numbing in codes…how tiring can that be?? I was wiped out when I finally got to my car, and since I hadn’t figured out the whole ‘when lunch time break was’ i hadn’t eaten yet…so as soon as I reached the car I basically crammed my sandwich into my mouth. Yea, thats how hungry I was.

Oy. I need sleep. I’m so tired, and I’m going back to work in the morning for another 8hr day. I think after work I might hit up the gym. With all this sitting during the day, I’m going to start gaining weight…and I gained enough this past week being home and at the wedding and whatnot; I don’t need to gain anymore! lol Yea…going to the gym might be a good idea.

So last night, I was reading my Bible, and usually before I open it up I was like Lord, I need a verse to help me for tomorrow. And I tend to do the flip open the Bible and where I land is where I read. Well, last nite it was awesome, because I landed on 1 Kings 4:29-34

God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.

That verse just really stood out to me. So that is my prayer for a while as of last night; for God to grant me wisdom, insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore as he did Solomon. Because I surely need it. I may be wise and insightful at times, but probably most of what comes out of my mouth isn’t that, and it’d be nice to be more discerning to whats going around me, both physically and spiritually. Ya know? So yea, thats one of my verses I’m going to be sticking with for a long while. :)

Go in peace & strength & keep an ipod nearby,
